A New Christmas Tradition Is Growing in Rockmart: Holly Springs Tree Farm

Holly Springs Tree Farm in Rockmart GA with Christmas trees, holiday activities and opening day information
Holly Springs Tree Farm in Rockmart, Georgia – opening November 20 for its first Christmas season.

There’s something about a real Christmas tree.

Maybe it’s the smell when you walk into the room. Maybe it’s the slightly imperfect branches that somehow look perfect once the lights are on. Or maybe it’s because picking out the tree can become just as much a part of Christmas as decorating it.

This holiday season, there’s a brand-new place near Bartow and Paulding counties where families can start that tradition.

Holly Springs Tree Farm in Rockmart, Georgia, is opening for its very first Christmas season on November 20.

And yes, this particular Local Spotlight is a little personal for me.

Holly Springs Tree Farm belongs to my brother-in-law and his family, so I’ve had a front-row seat to something most of us don’t think about when we’re wandering through rows looking for the tree: the years of work that happen before opening day ever arrives.

Now those trees are ready for families to come make memories among them.

More Than Just Picking Out a Christmas Tree

One of the things I love about Christmas tree farms is that the tree is really only part of the story.

You could grab a tree somewhere on the way home from work.

But going to a farm?

That’s an experience.

Bundle everybody up. Walk through the trees. Debate which one is the one. Change your mind three times. Take pictures. Drink something warm. Let the kids run around.

And eventually bring home a tree that has a story attached to it.

Holly Springs Tree Farm is building its first Christmas season around exactly that kind of experience.

Visitors can expect fresh Christmas trees, hot chocolate, coffee, popcorn and gifts for sale throughout the season.

And opening weekend has a couple of particularly special guests coming to Rockmart.

🎅 Santa & Mrs. Claus Are Coming to the Farm

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at Holly Springs Tree Farm November 20 and 21, making opening weekend a pretty great opportunity to kick off the Christmas season with the kids.

Come find your tree, grab some hot chocolate, see Santa and Mrs. Claus, and maybe start a completely new family tradition in the process.

Because years from now, nobody is going to remember where you bought most of the things under the tree.

But they may very well remember going together to pick out the tree.

🌲 Real Christmas Trees Grown in Georgia

Holly Springs Tree Farm is also listed with the Georgia Christmas Tree Association, whose Farm Finder currently lists Blue Ice, Carolina Sapphire, Fraser Fir, Leyland Cypress and Murray Cypress for the Rockmart farm. Gacta

The Georgia Christmas Tree Association points out that visiting a tree farm can look different from farm to farm — some offer concessions, stores, activities or other experiences in addition to choosing a tree. That’s part of what makes visiting a local farm different from simply buying a tree from a retail lot. Gacta

And when you choose a locally owned farm, you’re doing something else at the same time:

You’re supporting a local family and a local business.

That’s something I’ll always get behind.

Front Porch Thought

The best Christmas traditions usually aren’t the complicated ones.

Sometimes they’re as simple as piling into the car, arguing over which tree is too tall, drinking hot chocolate with cold hands, and bringing home the one everybody finally agrees is perfect.

This year, a new Christmas tradition is growing right down the road in Rockmart.

And I can’t wait to watch families make it their own.
